THE TOWN HEROES ANNOUNCE FULL BAND ACOUSTIC SHOW AT THE CARLETON

On February 28, The Town Heroes announced they would be taking over the stage at The Carleton on April 21 for an acoustic set featuring their full band. The band was recently in the recording studio and will have new music coming out this summer. Opening the show will be Elyse Aeryn, who by that time will be playing songs from her debut full-length album, ‘Joy State of Mind’

THE RURAL ALBERTA ADVANTAGE IS COMING BACK EAST

Indie rock band, The Rural Alberta Advantage will be performing at the Light House Arts Centre in Halifax this spring for the first time since the pandemic. Since then, the band released their first EP in five years in 2022, and on January 31, the band released a single titled ‘Plague Dogs’.

ELYSE AERYN RELEASES THIRD SINGLE FROM DEBUT ALBUM

On March 3, Elyse Aeryn released her third and final single before her debut album ‘Joy State of Mind’ drops on March 31. The single, titled ‘Criminal’ is hers and bandmate Garrett Taylor’s favourite from the album and they describe it as the “ultimate ‘I'm done’ song for anyone who's ever felt like it was easier to take the blame than to explain yourself, knowing your words are falling on deaf ears.”

WHITECAP ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCE NEW FESTIVAL IN PEI

Following an initial council rejection of the Sommo Festival, a two-day rock festival in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island - council members overturned their decision two days later, granting a one-year permit. The festival will take place the week after the country-themed Cavendish Beach Music Festival in the same location. On March 3, Whitecap made its first lineup announcement, including headliners including Mumford and Sons, Maggie Rogers, Vance Joy, and Lord Huron.

THE 2024 JUNO AWARDS TO BE HELD IN HALIFAX

For the first time in 18 years, the JUNO Awards will be held in Nova Scotia. JUNO Week events will take place from March 20-24, 2024, with the awards taking place at The Scotiabank Centre. To celebrate the announcement, Music Nova Scotia shared a fun video that features N.S. artists sharing the news.

The last time the awards were in Halifax, the primary ceremonies were hosted by Pamela Anderson and featured music from Bedouin Soundclash, Broken Social Scene, Divine Brown, Massari and Nickelback. International artists included The Black Eyed Peas and Coldplay.

The Boom at Noon will share more information about the awards as they become available.

 

DON BROWNRIGG AND TERRA SPENCER RELEASE Song

On March 8, Don Brownrigg and Terra Spencer released a single that they co-wrote called ‘Say’ which was produced by Daniel Ledwell. The pair says they wrote the song in a “little red cottage by the ocean and liked it so much that they recorded it together with some sweet friends in a little cottage on the lake.”

THE CORVETTE SUNSET RELEASE NEW LIVE MUSIC VIDEO

‘Baby Cmon’ is the second live music video from The Corvette Sunset. Both were recorded at Waveshine Audio.

 

ALERT THE MEDIC AND THE MOTORLEAGUE ANNOUNCE SHOW

On March 9, Alert the Medic and The Motorleague announced a co-headling show at The Marquee on May 27 with openers The Rebel Prospects and All Honesty.

NEW music LABEL ‘LULO MUSIC GROUP’ SIGNS GOOD DEAR GOOD

Lulo Music Group, a new Halifax-based label created by Nova Scotia Community College Music Business students, announced its first signing - Good Dear Good. Their debut EP ‘Arrival’ is set to be released in June.

‘Death Threat’ is the latest single from Braden Lam. The single will appear on his upcoming EP ‘Strange Paradise’ which will be released on April 7.

TUNS ANNOUNCE HALIFAX SHOW

Indie rock supergroup TUNS (Mike O'Neill of The Inbreds, Chris Murphy of Sloan and Matt Murphy of The Super Friendz) announced a show at The Marquee Ballroom on May 13 with special guest Aboslute Losers.
