ECMA 2023 | Day 2 Recap | Kellie Loder and David Myles Win Big At Awards

The second day of the 2023 ECMAs featured the first award show of the weekend, hosted at The Scotiabank Centre on May 4.
Kellie Loder and David Myles were the big winners of the evening, both taking home two awards.
Kellie Loder was the recipient of the Songwriter of the Year and the TD Fans' Choice Entertainer of the Year.
David Myles, was unable to be at the award show in-person, but accepted the Album of the Year and Solo Recording of the Year awards for his album, “It’s Only A Little Loneliness” virtually.
Dylan Menzie won the award for Rising Star Recording of the Year, for his song “A Piece of Me”.
Lisa LeBlanc, who was also unable to attend the show, won the award for Francophone Recording of the Year for her album "Chiac Disco".
Zamani Folade received her fourth ECMA and won the African Canadian Artist of the Year.
The award for Rock Recording of the Year went to The Trews for their album "Wanderer".
Jah’Mila won the award for Global Music Recording of the Year for her debut album "Roots Girl"
Morgan Toney was named Indigenous Artist of the Year and accepted the award virtually.
The East Pointers were named Group Recording of the Year for their album "House of Dreams".
City Natives won the award for Rap/Hip-Hop Recording of the Year for their album "The People of the Dawn".
Adam Baldwin won the award for Song of the Year for his track "Lighthouse in Little Lorraine.”
Nicole Ariana won the award for TD Fans' Choice Video of the Year for her music video "Master of Denial", which was directed by Griffin O'Toole and Brendan Lyle of MooseCanFly.
The Director's Special Achievement award went to Natalie MacMaster, who closed out the show with a performance.
Folk Recording of the Year was presented to Fortunate Ones for their album "That Was You and Me".
April Wine's Myles Goodwyn was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame by Lennie Gallant.
The 2023 ECMAs will continue on Sunday, with more awards and performances to come.
