TIM BAKER ANNOUNCED NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
THE FABULOUSLY RICH IS COMING BACK TO HALIFAX
The incredible PEI-based Tragically Hip tribute band, The Fabulously Rich announced that they are going to play their first Halifax show of 2023 on Saturday, March 25, with new songs on deck.
DAVE SAMPSON AND HIS BAND ARE PLAYING THE MARQUEE
Dave Sampson kicked off the month of February with a show announcement. He and his band will be playing The Marquee on April 1 with special guest Daniel James McFadyen who will be opening the show.
NEW SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO FROM RAIN OVER ST. AMBROSE
On February 3 at 12 a.m., Yarmouth-based rockers Rain Over St. Ambrose released a song and music video for “Popsong!!” Their new LP, “Liar,” will be coming later this year.
ELYSE AERYN RELEASED HER SINGLE “CHERRIES”
Also released on February 3, was Elyse Aeryn’s “Cherries”, which is the second single from her upcoming debut album “Joy State of Mind,” which will be released on March 31.
LEMONHEADS AND THE NOVAKS ARE COMING TO HALIFAX
On February 1, Sonic Concerts announced that Lemonheads would be stopping by the Light House Arts Centre on March 30. The band will be performing “It’s a Shame About Ray” in its entirety which was released 30 years ago in June. Joining them will be Newfoundland rock royalty, The Novaks.
BRADEN LAM RELEASES NEW SINGLE “LINEN SHEETS”
Fresh off his 2023 ECMA Song of the Year nomination, on February 1, Braden Lam released a new single, “Linen Sheets,” which was written and sung with his wife Faith Lamoureux and it’s her debut recording. Braden’s new LP “Strange Paradise” is set to come out on April 7.
A CAPE BRETON ST. PATRICKS DAY PARTY IN HALIFAX
St. Patrick’s Day 2023 falls on a Friday and there’s a Cape Breton party coming to Halifax. On February 3, The MacIsaac Agency announced that The Tom Fun Orchestra, Carmen Townsend and the Shakey Deals, Rachel Davis and Darren McMullen and Them Barrens would be playing the Marquee on March 17.
ROXY AND THE UNDERGROUND SOUL SOUND AND MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE CELEBRATE MUSIC FROM DECADES PAST
On March 4, The Marquee Ballroom will be celebrating the music of the 70s, 80s and 90s, featuring Roxy and the Underground Soul Sound, focusing on the 70s and Maximum Overdrive, will of course, be playing music from the 80s.
NOVA SCOTIA MUSIC WEEK 2023 WILL BE HELD IN YARMOUTH
On February 7, Music Nova Scotia announced that for the first time in eight years, NSMW will be held in Yarmouth/Kespukwitk from November 2-5. Last year the festival was held in Sydney, Cape Breton, after being held in Truro for several years.
HALIFAX JAZZ FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FIRST ACTS
Last week, Halifax Jazz Festival, in partnership with Sonic Concerts, announced that Seattle indie favourite Fleet Foxes would be headlining Sunday night at the TD Main Stage on the Halifax waterfront. Opening the show will be the Newfoundland-based indie folk duo, Fortunate Ones.
WILLIE STRATTON SET TO PLAY AT SEAFORTH HALL
Willie Stratton announced last week that he will be playing a solo set at the Seaforth Community Hall on March 25. Opening the show is Zachari Smith.
KIDS LOSING SLEEP ANNOUNCE HOMETOWN SHOW
Halifax-based Kids Losing Sleep will be playing The Seahorse on March 11. Opening the show will be Sundae Girl, POSTFUN and Customer Service.
2023 ECMA PERFORMERS ANNOUNCED
On February 9, the East Coast Music Association released the official 2023 festival schedule for the 35th annual ECMAs, which will be taking place in Halifax in the spring. Award nominees were announced on January 24.
HILLSBURN RELEASED LIVE VIDEO FOR “TRUTHS YOU OVERTURN”
On February 9, Hillsburn released a live version of ‘Truths You Outrun,’ from their upcoming EP, “Stories,” which will be released on March 10.
