This Friday, Toronto-based indie rockers The Beaches will bring their highly-anticipated Blame My Ex tour to Halifax at the Light House Arts Centre. This will be the band’s tenth stop on the tour, which has sold out shows in nearly every city, including Halifax.

The Light House Arts Centre and Halifax will welcome the band for the second time this year after their February 2023 performance at the venue, which was also a sold-out show - hosting 1,150 screaming fans.

The band’s first headlining show in Halifax was back in May 2018, when they graced the stage at the legendary Seahorse Tavern, delivering an unforgettable night for about 250 fans following their first full-length release, "The Late Show," which came out in August 2017.

Since then, the band has continued to rise in prominence, releasing a couple of EPs and, most recently, their second full-length album, "Blame My Ex," which came out on September 15. This album has already made waves in the music industry and reached a new level of virality thanks to their single "Blame Brett."

"Blame Brett," which was released in May 2023 and was written by the band following lead singer Jordan Miller’s break-up. The song delves into the post-breakup emotions and the desire to shield oneself from the vulnerability that comes with opening up to a new relationship. Its relatability has drawn massive attention, with the track (at the time of publication) having over 18.3 million streams on Spotify. The song has caught the attention of celebrities like Nelly Furtado, Mark Hoppus from Blink 182, and Demi Lovato, who have all shared their love for the song by posting videos of themselves singing along.

Friday’s show promises to be an unforgettable night for those fortunate enough to secure tickets before tickets sold out. Opening the show is Halifax native Loviet, who now lives in Toronto. Doors for general admission ticket holders is at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.
